Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in Sangli, marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and god of wisdom and prosperity. Homes, societies, and public pandals install beautifully decorated Ganesh idols and perform daily prayers, aartis, and cultural programs. The festival concludes with Ganesh Visarjan, a grand immersion procession where devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya”. The streets come alive with music, drums, and dancing as idols are taken for immersion in rivers or water bodies, symbolizing the cycle of creation and dissolution and spreading a message of devotion and unity.

Holi is one of the most joyful and vibrant festivals celebrated across Sangli. It marks the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring season. On this day, people of all ages come together to play with colours (gulal), dance to festive music, and share sweets and traditional snacks. The celebration usually begins with Holika Dahan (bonfire) in the evening, symbolizing the burning of negativity, followed by a colourful day of fun and togetherness. Holi in Sangli reflects the city’s spirit of unity, happiness, and cultural harmony.

Navratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm through Garba and Dandiya Raas dances, beautifully decorated pandals, devotional music, and community gatherings honoring Goddess Durga in her nine forms. Dussehra (Vijayadashami) marks the victory of good over evil, symbolized by burning of Ravana effigies, processions, cultural programs, and festive fairs across the city

A traditional local yatra and fair taking place in Chaitra (March–April) at the Mhasoba Temple in Banpuri village (Atpadi taluka). Devotees offer prayers to the deity Mhasoba, and the event includes processions, lights, decorations, and community celebration.

A large annual cultural festival held around 25 – 29 December, turning Sangli into a hub of art, music, food, shopping, and entertainment. The event features live shows, talent competitions like Sangli Idol, award ceremonies, street performances, food stalls, and community gatherings that celebrate local culture and modern lifestyle
